Parking court

This week, I have to go to Parking Court to contest a ticket I got in February. I don't think I'll win, but I had to request a hearing because I had no cash when I got the citation. So my only option was to delay by contesting it.

The alleged violation: My car was in the same parking space for seven days. A legal, public space on the street outside my building. This means that legally it's considered "abandoned" and I owe the city $75.

The facts: At the time of the alleged violation, my right foot was broken. I was unable to drive my car. I was looking after it and starting it each week to keep the battery charged, but I couldn't move it to a different space because I wasn't allowed to drive. Also, I had no idea it was a crime to occupy the same parking space for a week.

Defense strategy: I am very cute, and it's very sad that I broke my foot. Also, what the fuck was I supposed to do?

Likely outcome: The judge cuts me off and snaps "Was your car in the space for seven days, yes or no?" Then he yells at me and orders me to pay the full amount. I cry in the courthouse bathroom.

I'll let y'all know how it goes.
